9 Ways You Can Help Women, Freedom, Texas and the Capitol this week!

Give Texas and the Capitol a hand this Independence Week, no matter where you are! Here’s how:

1. Make your Emails/calls to Byron Cook, State Affairs Chair whose committee (most likely) gets the bill.

We Support #HB2 #SB9

email: bryan.cook@house.state.tx.us | phone: (512) 463-0730

2. If you don’t already have your state House member on speed dial, click here to find your Representative.

Call both the Austin and the district offices to let them know that as a constituent you want them to show up for committee meetings, public hearings and for floor votes. Leave a message that we will be checking for absentees who don’t take their oath of office seriously enough to show up to conduct the People’s business.

3. If you don’t already have your state Senate member on speed dial, click here to find your Senator.

Call both the Austin and the district offices to let them know that as a constituent you want them to show up for committee meetings, public hearings and for floor votes. Leave a message that we will be checking for absentees who don’t take their oath of office seriously enough to show up to conduct the People’s business.

4. Call Speaker Joe Straus’s offices to let him know you want the House working! Leave a message asking him to stop with the recesses that only serve to run out the clock. Straus was as instrumental in the failure of the previous bill to pass in the special session as was Lt. Gov. Dewhurst’s failure to keep order in the Senate gallery. Straus slowed down the first special session as much as possible to run out the clock – which allowed the down-to-the-wire filibuster in the Senate.

House Speaker Joe Straus –

Capitol: (512) 463-1000 and (512) 463-0675 Fax

District: (210) 828-4411 and (210) 832-9994 Fax

Email:  joe.straus@speaker.state.tx.us

5. Call Lt. Governor David Dewhurst’s office to let him know you want the Senate working also! Leave him a message asking that he maintain order of the Senate gallery so that the people’s business can be conducted in good order—not like a circus.

Lt. Governor Dewhurst – 512 463-0001 and 512-463-0677 Fax

Email: david.dewhurst@ltgov.state.tx.us

His Chief of Staff’s Email address:  Blaine.Brunson@ltgov.state.tx.us

Let them know you are watching!
